Marko Simic berhasil membawa timnya, Persija Jakarta merengkuh gelar juara Piala Presiden 2018, usai mengalahkan Bali United 3-0 di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno (SUGBK), Senayan, Jakarta, Sabtu (17/2/2018) malam WIB. Bomber asal Kroasia itu pun mempersembahkan gelar juara untuk masyarakat Jakarta.
Bukan hanya untuk masyarakat, Simic juga mempersembahkan gelar juaranya kepada tim, keluarga, dan Jakmania yang sudah setia mendukungnya. Bagi penyerang berjuluk Super Simic tersebut, ini adalah momentum terbaik dalam karier sepakbolanya.
"Ini adalah suatu momentum terbaik dalam karier saya. Saya sangat berterima kasih kepada tim, pelatih, dan pemain. Ini adalah sebuah penghargaan buat Persija Jakarta dan keluarga saya," kata Simic usai laga.
Simic pun sedikit bercerita perasaanya menjadi pencetak gol terbanyak turnamen. Penyerang berusia 30 tahun itu total mencetak 11 gol di Piala Presiden 2018. Bahkan, Simic mencetak dua gol pada partai final di hadapan Presiden Joko Widodo yang hadir di tribun kehormatan SUGBK.
Menurutnya, Presiden Jokowi merupakan orang yang cukup ramah dan bersahabat. Selain itu, eks penyerang Timnas Kroasia U-21 tersebut juga menganggap bahwa Piala Presiden merupakan turnamen berkelas layaknya Piala Dunia!
"Saya merasa presiden merupakan orang yang ramah, bersahabat, dan santai. Selain itu, Piala Presiden ini merupakan turnamen yang sama dengan Piala Dunia," seloroh Simic.
Selain mengantarkan Persija juara dan menjadi pencetak gol terbanyak kompetisi, Simic juga merengkuh gelar prestisius Pemain Terbaik Piala Presiden 2018.
